A note about our funding

This ministry is 100% funded by our ministry partners – churches, families and individuals who believe in what we are doing and choose to join our team by investing, praying and visiting.

We are thankful for our team members in the United States who give so generously and make this good work possible. The reality is that this ministry cannot happen without your fervent prayers and consistent financial contributions. Your partnership makes you an instrument of change and transformation in the lives of individuals, families and communities here in the Dominican Republic.

"Making disciples in the Dominican Republic"

Kristin Wolford

Kristin Wolford lives in the Dominican Republic with her two boys, Elliot and Evan. She loves working with young people, encouraging them in their walk with Christ and empowering them to use their gifts and talents in the Kingdom of God.

Mission

To glorify God and make disciples as we serve the community with educational programs, volunteer opportunities and high-quality sustainable projects.

Vision

As branches connected to the vine (which is Christ), we produce fruit that last. We contribute to community development by offering leadership training, employment opportunities, bible studies, family and children’s programming. We teach others to follow the example of Christ. We unite, equip and empower others to respond to needs in their communities and create sustainable solutions. We impact even more communities by sending capable leaders to replicate our model, stimulate transformation and inspire even more people to become agents of change.

History

In 2011, Kristin Wolford began working with a group of young adults from Iglesia Centro Cristiano Shalom in Hato Mayor del Rey. She helped these young adults start a ministry that works with children living in poverty in their cities. Today, this ministry includes over 30 young adults from four cities who travel to nine different neighborhoods to reach over 300 children on Saturday afternoons.

Development

These positive Christian role models offer hope to children living in very difficult economic conditions through prayer and worship, Bible stories, games, crafts, extra help with reading, writing and arithmetic, a snack and ongoing relationships. The young leaders don’t stop there, however. In response to needs of the COVID-19 pandemic and a desire to go deeper with children and families, we’ve developed a new mentorship program for children from single-parent homes or living with extended family. Throughout the week, one of our teacher-mentors visits children and works one-on-one with them to set personal goals, help with homework, study the Bible, encourage them and spend time enjoying one another through play.

Leadership

We are thrilled to announce the promotion of a leader in our ministry.

Nene Adon Vallejo

Director of Ministries

Nene has been serving on our leadership team in the Accounting/Communications department since Aug. 2019, though he has been a part of our ministry since 2016. Nene lives in the community of Guayabal en Hato Mayor del Rey and is finishing up his bachelor’s degree in Accounting at Centro Universitario UASD in Hato Mayor. He also works as an interpreter with mission teams visiting from the United States.

Nene’s level-headedness, passion for the Lord and deep desire to make a difference in his community set him apart. Nene has a powerful understanding of the mission and vision of Ramas Vivas, along with strong leadership and administrative skills. With God’s guidance, Nene’s talent and passion, and the strong team of faithful leaders around him, we expect this ministry to grow, thrive and produce fruit that will last under his leadership.

Sustainability Project

Water Purification Center

Our launch team is working hard, and construction is nearly complete. We expect to open our water center year-end 2020. This small business will provide safe drinking for people in our city and become an economic engine for our ministry. Our timely delivery service and excellent customer care will set us apart. With the funds earned, we expect to be able to provide full-time jobs for at least nine people, sustain our ministry and expand to reach even more children, youth and families for Christ.

To donate towards this project specifically, please choose "Water Project" from the drop-down menu on our linked donation form; or, write “RVW” or “Ramas Vivas Water” in comments section of checks or other methods of donation.
