Work in Uganda, Translating Mark, January 2012
Ministry in Scripture Translation -
Report for January 2011
Family
Aside from celebrating the birth of our Wonderful Savior, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the biggest event this December was our churches Christmas musical on Dec. 9-11. All of our family, except for Eric played in the Christmas musical. It was one of the most exciting and meaningful musicals we have done at our church since I first played there in December 2001. We are grateful for our church and the worship ministry through music that is offered there.
John and Eric finished the Fall semester at their college, and Karen and Esther finished the course they were taking as high school students for college credit through the same college. Our son Neil finished his fall semester teaching band in one of the local public school systems and seems to be enjoying teaching more now. He would still rather be playing trumpet, so he has applied to universities to work on his Masters in Trumpet Performance
Work
In December, I finished getting Mark ready for the final exegetical check we can do, so all 16 chapters are ready for Sarah and me to check. We finished the exegetical check on chapter 6 of Mark, and have started chapter 7.
I have talked with Sarah about what to do while I am in Uganda working with The Seed Company, and she will be finishing the first draft of chapter 5 and 6 of Galatians. After that she will begin drafting 1 and 2 Thessalonians.
I have been working on the instructions for the dictionary for Dot, and hope to finish it in the little bit down time I will have in Uganda.
Preparation for the Luke Partnership Project (LPP) was minimal this month, but I will be working as I travel to Uganda on the 30th and 31st to get ready for the teaching and consulting I will be doing. I will be gone for four weeks, from December 30-January 26.
Plans
- Finish the instructions for editing Dot’s dictionary
- Teach two sessions for the Uganda LPP and mentor and consult for the translation team I will be working with
- Begin working on Philippians to get it ready for checking with Sarah
Praise
- For God’s priceless gift of His Son, Jesus Christ, to pay for our sins
- For family and friends
- For the fellowship and encouragement and help that comes from the church of which we are members
Prayer
- For safe travel for all who are attending this Uganda Luke Partnership Project in January
- For protection for all who will be at the workshop and for their families
- For Jeannette and our children while I am away
- For my brother, Bob, who is 76 and going through a difficult and uncertain time with cancer
Thank you for your prayers and encouragement.
Neil and Jeannette
