A Clear Vision…Prayer…Action
Dear Family and Friends ::
Though Jesus had outlined the outreach strategy for his disciples (Act 1:8) it appears that they had no idea how it was all to begin. They were just told to pray. As they took a break from their prayer vigil to share in the Jewish feast of Pentecost, God began to work supernaturally and they acted in accord with their training as Jesus had taught…they recognized the Father’s work…and became a part of what God was doing at the moment.
How vital that we learn how God works in our lives and in our service for Him.
He is preparing us constantly to be a clay pot that contains the treasure of his presence and power (I Cor. 4:7). At the exact moment according to his timing…he will give us a clear vision…we will pray his will be done…and will be moved to action…yoked together in partnership…to see his supernatural work engaged.
How amazing that the followers of Jesus had no idea that they were to become a part of the launch of the worldwide harvest work that is yet in process 2000 years later. May we continue to be diligent in our daily walk with the Master…and always be aware that his timing is everything. We are simply to keep on planting seed and watering…and in due season God will give the increase (I Cor 3:7).
· The Importance of Daily Walk
With God’s help we must continue to live each day…regardless of how uneventful it may all seem…realizing that he is doing an internal work in us. This work is absolutely necessary to our being prepared for action whenever he chooses to engage us in his plans for the world around us. More important that anything we may do is our followership of Jesus in detail… such that we are letting Christ’s mind be formed in us…that we may be on the same wave length as the Father…(this is how Jesus lived). If we are not modeling Jesus…if he is not living through us…we have nothing to offer. “Without me” he said, “you can do nothing.” (John 15:5). So may we focus on our daily walk with him!
· The Importance of Meeting With Others
Jesus was here for others. He served his family in seclusion from the world…faithfully providing a living for them. At the right moment he moved into the public arena to teach the Kingdom of God and to train a handful of followers to do the same. Our example and our orders are to teach others wherever God has put us…it may be behind the scenes or it may be in public. We are to recruit pupils and train disciples just like the Master…this is why we are in the here and now...may we fulfill our calling. This is why we are attempting to challenge the people in our world to get engaged in the task of meeting with others.
· The Importance of Training
Every week includes one on one (personal) and three or more (group) meetings for the express purpose of not just teaching, but training…helping people to learn how to apply the truth to daily life and to “walk as He walked”…to observe to do all that the Master commanded.
Throughout the week as I work I look for opportunities to include people in what I am doing…and when the occasion presents itself that may include three or more…a group meeting. Also, we have set up mission outposts where every week at a certain time people gather for a group session and attempt to bring others. At present I am involved in three of these each week…and am praying for the beginning of at least two more by summer. Our aim here is to reduplicate …to see many trainers doing exactly the same with one on one and group sessions. Some are meeting weekly with us seeking to become effective trainers who will reduplicate in this way.
· The Importance of Hospitality
Weekly social events…like Sunday fellowship and in home birthday gatherings or neighborhood barbecues become the means of meeting new people and making new friends. We emphasize the importance of breaking bread and sharing our bread with others. In these informal gatherings people can connect without hidden agendas. When God strikes up a friendship…and we begin to develop a relationship…meetings become natural…and sharing becomes a part of normal conversation. What blessings have occurred through taking time to make bread for others or just call some one for a cup of coffee. Wherever we are we can be hospitable…it is the “cup of cold water” that Jesus talked about…we must always be seeking connection with others because they may be the lost sheep that God is trying to find.
· Our Mission 2012
So we have our work cut out for us again. Just the daily tasks keep us very occupied, not to mention the special occasions when God includes us in his tactical rescue missions…when things happen so spontaneously…we stand in awe at the moment. So we seek a clear vision…pray for his will to be done…and engage in the action as we see God at work in our midst.
